Even Dogs Need Matching Beds

matching dog bedIf you and your dog share the bedroom together then you’ll be well aware that dog hairs can get everywhere, but more important than that is that your dog bed needs to co-ordinate with your bedroom design.

Gone are the days when a dog bed was just a hard rigid plastic affair, although still required if your canine still views a cushion as an edible toy, but even they come in some fantastic colours now rather than the boring browns or greys.

When choosing your dog bed, see if you can get one specially made in the fabric of your curtains or even buy two quilt covers and cover your dogs’ current bed in the spare one, so that they match perfectly.

Two Tone Bedroom

Bedroom Interior DesignHave you seen the fashion world lately?  Its going monochrome and that means the next big thing to hit the bedroom will be black and white.  Edgy combinations of bedroom furniture will be hitting the furniture stores.  Modular wardrobes with their changeable doors allow you to have a block of black and then a block of white, stunning.

The fashion world pushes its inspiration over to wallpaper and although avoiding the zebra printed fabric there will be found geometric two tone wallpaper and materials reflecting the upcoming trend.

This bedroom design influence might not be everybody’s cup of tea as it is a bold statement, even in the bedroom but for those who are true followers of fashion or have teenagers who want to impress their friends, then this style is the one to choose.

Bedroom Getaway

dream bedroomSometimes we can’t afford to go on holiday or we haven’t got the time, but there is nothing to stop us recreating that seaside villa feel in our bedroom.  What a perfect way to relax and a joy to wake up to in the morning.

One of the first things you need to do to inspire you is to think about your dream destination, think of the colours, patterns and what type of wood would you find in this area.  If you are thinking of the tropics then dark wooden furniture with bold colour will strike a balance.  If a perfect getaway for you is a secluded cove with gentle waves lapping at the shore, then you should opt for a coastal theme, with pale blues and whites and light wooden bedroom furniture.

When you have decided how you would like your bedroom to feel then your next step will be designing the layout, you can use a mood-board for this.  If you are not sure what a mood-board is, it is simply a board with all the ideas you want to incorporate, from the wallpaper or paint to the texture of the wood for the furniture.  From this board you will be able to work out if this is the look you want and if by looking at it you feel relaxed and happy.  This way you’ll be sure to make your bedroom perfect for you.

If you haven’t got the budget for a complete bedroom transformation, you can just add accessories that will transport your mind to somewhere more exotic, even the lighting of a bedroom can bring remarkable changes.  Add pools of light with floorstanding lamps or move smaller lamps around the room to get the lighting exactly how you like it.

Your bedroom should be all about you and with you designing it with décor and accessories that make you happy, you’ll be sure to relax and unwind in style.

Pastel Colours in Interior Design

bedroom curtainsPastels are big news this year with glorious ice cream colours hitting the scene, its enough to make you drool.  From baby pink sofas to citrus yellow or lime bedding, it’s a look that will certainly be noticeable.  Even furniture is seeing the pastel hit with wardrobes and even sideboards getting a twist with their doors in mouth watering colours.

But how can you work this look without your bedroom or lounge looking like a children’s play room?  The key is choosing pieces of furniture that have a touch of pastel rather than the whole piece.  If you are choosing a baby blue sofa, make sure it is formal looking, with button back detailing, this gives the sofa an elegant and grown up feel, while being bang on trend with the pastel blue.

Bedrooms are easier to introduce pastel colouring, as the range of bedding available is so diverse there is bound to be a colour you adore, however when it comes to changing your bedroom furniture, you need to make sure there is a hint of pastel rather then a large pink wardrobe, otherwise the room is certainly going to look child like.

You could focus the pastel colouring on walls or even introduce artwork with pastel tones.  Just by changing your curtains you can create an instant uplift to a dated room, why not try a mixture of colours with polka dot curtains.
